Who We Are
Mission Statement
“Our mission is to encourage an appreciation and interest in the history, art, and culture of our community and state.”
Displays on the main level are changed every year, so there is always something new to see. The lower level is dedicated to agriculture and farm life and also houses an educational area which is supported by the local FFA chapter members. Visitors will find this area interesting and informative, and in 2008 it will test your knowledge of corn.
The Museum is directed by a seven member board which is appointed by the City Council. It employs six part-time employees - 4 tour guides, a senior associate, and janitor. The Board of Directors is pleased to announce the hiring Rosemary Schwartz as the new part-time Director of the museum. Her duties include, research of fund raising opportunities, grant writing, overseeing of museum events, and public relations. Ms. Schwartz has a Master’s Degree in Youth and Human Services Administration and has over 10 years of experience of successful fund raising and event management experience. She currently resides in Vinton. “I was immediately impressed with what the museum has to offer to the area. The museum is truly a jewel for the area that should not be overlooked. I look forward to working with the Board, staff, and volunteers to spread the word about this unique facility.” Ms. Schwartz commented.
